Born in Mumbai. He graduated from the Sir J. J. School of Applied Arts in 1989. He began his career in advertising and has worked with various agencies in India and the Middle East.

Not surprisingly after over 25 years in advertising when the urge to do something more creative with substance took over, Yayati turned towards painting. He had his first show with his family called “Gharana” in 1996. He had his solo show “The Accidental Abstinence of the Now” in 2016 at Gallery Art & Soul, Mumbai.

Yayati tells us stories. His stories are about the resilience of the human spirit and spirit of survival. He believes that every one is different and has their own identity and we need to celebrate that identity. This belief led to the creation of the brand Yayati.G, where the underlying theme is ‘There is but, only one you.”

So each product of the brand is created bearing this in mind and highlighting the characteristics of an individual; the struggles, the challenges and various dilemmas that they go through and how the positive spirit of the individual overcomes them. The brand is all about positivity, but it also uses fine detailed work to show that it takes hard work and effort to overcome and achieve the goals.

His works are a combination of elegant form and intricate, finely executed details. At a glance they appear as deceptively simple renditions, but a closer look reveals that the tonal variation is achieved by the density and intricacies of the patterns. It is an act of meditation that has created these mesmerizing details. He deftly manipulates the linear to build intricate motifs, which is akin to a jeweller chasing details.

He works with Organza, Silk and Ethically sourced Leather to bring his stories to life.
